Nina Buxton / DIRECTOR

Nina Buxton is an Australian film and television director who loves to tell stories that matter. She works across drama, comedy and children’s television, and in her spare time enjoys watching shows where women talk.

In 2015, Nina completed a bachelor of film and television at The Victorian College of the Arts. Her graduating short film ‘WOOF!’, which was shot on her iPhone, won multiple awards on the international festival circuit. The film was distributed by Flickerfest in 2016.

That same year, Nina was one of 50 young filmmakers selected from around the world to participate in Munich Film Festival’s talent lab for directors in Germany. She also developed her directing and editing skills working as an EPK director at Matchbox Pictures.

In 2017, Nina wrote, directed and edited ‘Mwah’, a short film that tells the story of a young girl being followed on her way home. This film premiered at the Melbourne International Film Festival and went on to screen at Palm Springs International Film Festival. This same year Nina was awarded 'Young Australian Filmmaker of the Year' at Byron Bay Film Festival.

In 2018, Nina began working as a television director under the wings of Robyn Butler and Wayne Hope at their prolific production company, Gristmill. She directed second unit on their AACTA nominated series 'Back in Very Small Business', and also directed four episodes of their upcoming children’s television series ‘The Inbestigators’ which is due to be released on Netflix in 2019.  Nina is currently in development for a number of new projects.
