Nina Buxton / DIRECTOR

Nina Buxton is an Australian film and television director who works across drama, comedy and children’s television. She is known for her passion for telling stories that matter.

In 2015, Nina completed a Bachelor of Film and Television at The Victorian College of the Arts. Her graduating short film ‘WOOF!’ was shot on her iPhone and won multiple awards on the international festival circuit. The film premiered online on ABC iview and was distributed by Flickerfest in 2016.

In 2016, Nina was one of 50 young filmmakers selected from around the world to participate in Munich Film Festival’s talent lab for directors in Germany. She also developed her directing and editing skills working as an EPK director at Matchbox Pictures.

In 2017, Nina wrote, directed and edited her second short film ‘Mwah’, which premiered at the Melbourne International Film Festival and went on to screen at Palm Springs International Film Festival. That same year Nina was awarded 'Young Australian Filmmaker of the Year' at Byron Bay Film Festival.

In 2018, Nina began working as a television director under the wings of Robyn Butler and Wayne Hope at their prolific Australian production company, Gristmill. She directed second unit on their AACTA nominated series 'Back in Very Small Business', and then went on to direct four episodes of their new children’s series ‘The Inbestigators’ for ABC and Netflix.

Nina is currently in development for a number of new projects.
