NINA BUXTON - FILM & TELEVISION DIRECTOR

Nina Buxton is an Australian film and television director well known for her passion for telling stories from the female perspective.

She studied screenwriting before graduating from Film and Television at  The Victorian College of the Arts in 2015. Her VCA graduating short film ‘WOOF!’ was shot on her iPhone and gained traction at academy-accredited film festivals in Australia and internationally, winning multiple awards including 'Best Editing in an Australian Short Film' at Flickerfest International Short Film Festival and a nomination for Best Short Film in the 2017 Social Short AACTA awards. Her breakout film 'WOOF!' was distributed by Flickerfest in 2016.

In 2016, Nina participated in the Film School Fest München director’s talent lab in Germany and worked as an EPK director for Matchbox Pictures on television series 'Nowhere Boys' and 'Mustangs F.C'. In 2017, she completed her second short film ‘Mwah’ which premiered at the Melbourne International Film Festival in the emerging director’s Accelerator program and went on to screen at Palm Springs International Film Festival. Nina was also awarded 'Young Australian Filmmaker of the Year' at the 2017 Byron Bay Film Festival.

In 2018, Nina began working as a television director with Robyn Butler and Wayne Hope at their prolific production company, Gristmill. Earlier this year she directed second unit on their upcoming comedy television series 'Back in Very Small Business'. She is currently in pre-production to direct four episodes of Gristmill's new children's comedy series 'The InBESTigators' which will premiere on ABC ME and Netflix in 2019.
